Stand-Up 1: Fundamentals

Do your friends keep saying you should be a comedian? Do you love telling a yarn? Just looking to be more comfortable in front of a crowd? Time to get behind a microphone and try stand-up!

Equip yourself with the tools required to crack up your audience, experiment with styles and techniques and discover the secrets behind the performance to transform yourself to be the funniest you can be.

Using skills from improv, storytelling, clowning, and more, you’ll learn how to write and deliver your own material, including in a performance at the end of term.

No experience necessary!

Stand Up 2: Advanced

How can I make the most of my material? How do I go from open mics to booked rooms to comedy festivals? Delve deeper into the world of stand-up comedy with a class designed to stretch your skills.

Develop your comedic voice and discover new ways to find the funny, with more challenging exercises and more intricate critique. Expand your toolset to get the crowd loving every moment of your act, with a stronger focus on writing, developing material, experimenting with styles and discovering your voice.

This course is for students who have completed Stand-up 1: Fundamentals.

Sketch 1: Fundamentals

Sketch One Improv Theatre Sydney Jacqui Duncan ITS

Enter the world of weird characters, wild premises, ingenious twists and the silliest of bits, as you learn the ropes of writing and performing sketch comedy.

Some of the finest comedians of the last century have cut their teeth on sketches, and now it’s your turn.

Each week you’ll explore a different genre of sketch, pulling existing sketches apart, developing and critiquing pitches, tinkering with mechanics, and having a great time!
