Format Design Course with Jim Fishwick

TUESDAY NIGHTS | 11 July – 8 Aug

In this dynamic and practical 5-week conservatory-level course, you’ll learn the ropes of inventing and refining improvised shows, with a little bit of theory, a few case studies, and a whole lot of hands-on theatremaking. Each week, you’ll be given the challenge to develop a completely new show, exploring a different aspect of improv formats. You’ll receive in-depth feedback on your work and process from Jim and the class, and come away with a portfolio of ideas to try out.

This course goes for 5 weeks, meeting for 2.5 hours a week and has a showcase on 20 August. It is aimed for students who have graduated Level 6 and up, or equal experience in improv formats. Knowledge and familiarity with a range of formats is required for the course!

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS | 12 Jul – 9 Aug

Level-up your scenework with this fun, four-week class devoted to helping you take the next step on your personal improv journey. By taking stock of what you’re loving about improv at the moment and what you’re finding challenging, we will unlock that secret sauce and set free your inner improv superhero. Expect heaps of practice, a wide variety of scenes, and a heck of a lot of good ol’ fashioned improv fun.

This class is taught by British improv nerd Liam Webber. A regular on the international improv festival scene and graduate of iO Chicago, Liam is a recent addition to Sydney from the UK where he taught and performed improv for coming up on 10 years.
