Terms and Conditions for Students

Registration

Your registration entitles you to a place in your class, workshop or course.

If you cancel your registration with more than 7 days’ notice before your event, you are entitled to a full refund, minus a non-refundable 7.8% transaction fee. You may also choose to defer your registration to the following term.

If you cancel your registration with less than 7 days’ notice before your event, or after your event has started, you are not entitled to a refund. If registered for a term course, you may be entitled to have your fees deferred until the following term if notice is given within 14 days of the first class. After 14 days, your full fee is applied to the term originally paid for. Registrations will only be deferred once.

In special circumstances, ITS management may consider special deferments. In some cases, registrations for one level in a term may be transferred to the same level on a different day.

Some courses have prerequisite experience or knowledge, and entry to these classes may be at the discretion of ITS staff or guest teachers.

In the event of a class, workshop or course being cancelled, participants will be given the option of a refund or transfer to equivalent class (if available). We reserve the right to change teachers based on availability to another teacher with equivalent experience.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend at least three-quarters of the classes in their term. If you miss more than two weeks of a term, access to the next course level is at the discretion of your teacher and ITS management.

If you miss a class, you are entitled to one make-up class per term, to attend a class from the same level on a different day, or a comparable make-up class if none are available.

If you need to miss more than one class due to illness, misadventure or change of circumstances, you may request one additional make-up class per term. This class is at the discretion of the General Manager.

At the end of each term, students may choose to pause or discontinue their education. If paused, students may recontinue their ITS courses where they left off if no more than a year has passed since their last course. After more than a year, ITS staff will work with you to determine the best place for you to continue.

Rights and Responsibilities of Students

Students are entitled to a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment, as enshrined in the ITS Students Bill of Rights.

If you have experienced or witnessed something that you believe could be a violation of these rights, please contact your teacher or the ITS Students Welfare Officer (welfare@improvtheatresydney.com.au). If you feel unable to talk to them, or are unsatisfied with the outcome, you can email ITS management at info@improvtheatresydney.com.au

If any participants in a workshop or course engage in behaviour that is counter-productive to ITS Bill of Rights, they may be asked to leave a class or the course, and may not be eligible for a refund.

Access to more advanced classes at ITS by progressing through course levels is not automatic or guaranteed. ITS teachers and staff may suggest or request that you repeat a level or revisit an earlier level before advancing. This may be due to attendance (see ‘Attendance’ above), attitude or behaviour during class, or demonstrated engagement with and understanding of the course material. Participation in end-of-term showcases is similarly at the discretion of your teacher.

We reserve the right to photograph or video parts of classes and workshops for promotional, educational or training purposes. These may be shared with ITS staff, among members of the class, or on ITS social media platforms. Please speak to your teacher if you do not wish to be photographed.

Terms and Conditions for Audience Members

Sales

All ticket prices include GST and a 2.42% processing fee.

Your ticket is proof of purchase to the event and must be presented on request.

Your ticket is non-transferable, and is not to be duplicated for the purpose of falsifying entry. Tickets cannot be on-sold by any means at a price greater than the purchase price of the ticket. Scalped tickets may be cancelled, and the ticket holder denied entry.

Refunds

Refunds are available at the discretion of ITS management. Please email info@improvtheatresydney.com.au for more information.

In the event that a performance is cancelled, audiences will be contacted at the earliest opportunity to arrange either a refund or to transfer their tickets to another date or show.

Audience Behaviour

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the start time on your ticket. Latecomers may need to wait to be seated.

Improv Theatre Sydney reserves the right to refuse entry, without refund, to patrons who are noisy, intoxicated, threatening or unruly. Audience members who behave in a way that disrupts or disrespects a show, including heckling, may be asked to leave by ITS staff or performers without warning or refund.

ITS reserves the right to film, record, photograph, livestream or broadcast performances, and this may include audience members. You have absolute licence to tell us you do not want your likeness distributed in photo or video on ITS social media. Please tell an ITS staff member or email us.
