Year 5-6 Intro to Improv | Summer Workshops 2025

All of our school holidays workshops are designed to help students get confident with skills explored in the classroom as part of the NSW Drama syllabus for stages 3-5 and HSC. See how our workshops link to the syllabus here.

Whether you are dipping your toe in for the first time or have some improvisation experience, our 3-day Intro to Improv workshop is the perfect place to unleash your creativity. Learn the skills of spontaneous play and collaboration, and the concept of “yes, and…” in a relaxed and supportive environment. Discover how to create fun and engaging scenes, and make up stories on the spot! Hone your storytelling skills, and get a taste for performing on stage. A great way to learn play-building skills that will give you an advantage in devising your school drama projects. The workshop will conclude with a short performance for family and friends on the final day.

13th, 14th & 15th January

Time:

Drop-off time: 9:15am | Pick-up time: 3:30pm. The workshops will run 9:30am – 3:30pm, with a lunch break.

Year 5-6

Showcase on final day

A short improvised showcase for family & friends will take place on Wednesday 15th January at 3pm. The showcase will bring together both all age groups (Year 3-9) in a relaxed, fun and completely improvised performance.

Where:

Improv Theatre Sydney, 45-55 Botany Rd, Redfern (There is 1 hour street parking available on Botany Rd for pick-up and drop off.)

Cost: $350 per person | Got a sibling? Every sibling gets a further $50 off the total fee. 

Price includes a 7.8% non-refundable booking fee.

What to bring

• Lunch and some healthy snacks (no nuts!)
• A water bottle
• Comfortable clothing
• An open mind and willingness to give things a go!
