THE WORKSHOP

Your scene partner’s words are gold. Make them even shinier with how you decide to react. Listening and reacting are the foundations of quality scene work.

This workshop teaches you how to add weight in your responses to your scene partners through strong emotional reactions. Emotions are a beautiful thing, they can solidify a Point of View, heighten games and ground your character. Learn to care about everything your scene partner has to say – if you care, the audience will care too!

If you sometimes find yourself stuck in a scene, playing apathetic characters or just want to sharpen your listening and reacting skills then this is the workshop for you!

THE TEACHER

Tiana Hogben is an improviser, actor and writer based in Melbourne/Naarm. She is an ensemble member in 2023’s revival of Thank God You’re Here, and has starred as a series regular in ABC iView series The Housemate. Other television credits include The InBESTigators, Get Krack!n, Summer Love, The Newsreader, Neighbours and more.

She’s also studied improv overseas at UCB, Second City and iO Chicago. She’s performed and directed Improv & Sketch shows in Comedy and Fringe Festivals all around the country and you can catch her on stage regularly at The Improv Conspiracy Theatre performing in The Remix and Close Quarters. She is currently Improv Conspiracy’s Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, and is also a Workshop Instructor and Director of the monthly House Sketch shows.
