The Premiere

The Premiere is a first of its kind show combining live cine-theatre and improv comedy to create a show that “presents improv comedy through a new and exciting lens” (Honi Soit). Each night, based on prompts provided by the audience, a cast of some of Sydney’s best improv comics improvise the behind the scenes documentary of a film suggested by the audience, acting for both the cameras and for the stage, and follow that up by presenting the film that they were just making. Audiences get to see the spontaneity of live theatre with the magic of cinema, all at once. With a rotating cast of some of Sydney’s best improvisers, alongside a film crew specifically trained to add visual style to the performance, the show combines the best of live comedy and cinema for an unforgettable experience.

After being nominated for Best in Comedy at the Sydney Fringe Festival 2025 and presenting at the Sydney Comedy Festival, The Premiere brings its “lightning in a bottle” energy to Improv Theatre Sydney for the first time.
