This workshop explores group dynamics and how numbers can be a strength. Often, the more people there are on stage, the less clear the information becomes. But ensembles can be amplifiers or highlighters: clarifying scenes and giving them depth. 

About the teacher

Loïc Dumas is a professional improviser from Switzerland, with nearly two decades’ experience improvising around Europe and the world, including New Caledonia, Québec and Montréal. He specialises in stories drenched in emotion and detail.

His shows in Switzerland include La LIG (the first summer improv league in Europe, drawing audiences of over 1000 people), Mute (a fully non-speaking long form) and countless performances of his duo show Paire.

As a teacher, Loïc brings a wealth of experience on a range of topics, with a particular focus on ensemble work and silent improvisation. And of course, he loves to share and discuss about improv during hours with a beer like a geek… (Main toxic trait of improviser is to only talk about improv during parties…)

The Group | 1-day workshop | Sat 11 April | 10–5pm

Students should be comfortable performing in front of the rest of the class. (We recommend having completed Level 2 or equivalent experience from elsewhere.) No ensemble or silent improv experience necessary.

This workshop takes place at Improv Theatre Sydney, 44-54 Botany Road, Redfern

Please arrive 10 mins early and ready for the class to start at 10am.
