Formats & Styles: Tennessee Williams with Anna Renzenbrink

The sweltering heat. Small-town America. Flawed characters who struggle with secrets, love, loss and hope. This term-long course combines workshop learning and performance opportunities to unlock the skills and techniques that go into a one-act play in the style of Tennessee Williams.

The course will support students to take risks, create satisfying character arcs, develop skills in intimacy and emotional depth, and above all deliver a compelling and satisfying unscripted theatrical experience.

The first five weeks of the course are workshops and rehearsals to build the required skillsets and mindsets for the show. The last three weeks are performances of A Streetcar Named Hot Tin Menagerie, a one act-play in the style of Tennessee Williams, with notes and performance feedback from Anna.

About the teacher

Anna Renzenbrink is a member of the ITS Faculty, improvisation teacher and performer with 20 years of experience contributing to her well regarded and very practical, playful and supportive teaching style. Anna has directed A Streetcar Named Hot Tin Menagerie for ITS in the 2018 and 2019 Fringe Festival and performed internationally and around Australia.

8-week course | Classes 1–3.30pm Saturdays 31 Jan–28 Feb | Shows 6pm Saturdays 7 – 21 March (Call time 5.15pm with note post show ending 7pm)
