Playing With Your Voice with Eleanor Stankiewicz

THE WORKSHOP
Is voice an after thought during scenes or creating characters? This workshop will encourage improvisers to develop and discover character using their voices and physicality in imaginative ways. NIDA Acting and Voice graduate, Eleanor Stankiewicz, will share her favourite vocal tips, tricks, and tools to help participants bring joy and musicality to their play.
Join Eleanor as she shares various exercises and approaches to voice training drawing from her experience as an actor and long-form improvisation practitioner and facilitator. Explore your voice from the perspective of play. This workshop will be shaped by the offers made by the participants, with a focus on curiosity and spontaneity to encourage freedom of expression.

“It was a thoroughly liberating experience and I learned so much. And above all, it was really, really fun.” – Dan Hough
“Lot’s of fun!” – NZIF 2025 participant
“Loved Ele’s style of teaching. Loved the science behind the work, how she built us into vocal progression, and how welcoming of all ideas and experiences she is. She was also a good role model – free and playful with her own voice and creativity. She held space really well for our own experience and learning.” – NZIF 2025 participant
“I liked practicing the link between the physical aspects of my character and what their voice would sound like… When I made vocal choices it would always be an afterthought that would complement my physicality or status. This workshop with Ele helped me realise my voice is another tool that can sit at the same level as my physical, status, emotional, or other scene choices.” – Shane Porter
“I loved the physicality in the workshop and how that influenced and helped us perform vocally. Voice and physical performance I find are very linked and your exercises helped us connect them both together.” – Liam McMahon
Experience level
This workshop is appropriate for those with no experience of improv. There is some very small scenework at the end of this workshop, this is more aimed at being connective tissue to beyond the workshop rather than a focus on scenework itself.
Sat 14 Nov, 2pm – 5pm at Improv Theatre Sydney
This workshop is part of the ITS Comedy Festival 2026. Check out the full program here.
