Level 5: The Harold OLD
In this level, we explore The Harold, a structured improvised format conceived by acclaimed American improviser and teacher Del Close and his ensemble, combining the group mind of Level 3 and the character and scene work of Level 4. The Harold forms the basic, international language of long form and is the entry point into figuring out what works about playing themes, challenging theatrical and comedy convention, really focusing group mind in an ensemble performance. It’s jazz, an exploration of ideas. This workshop ends in an ensemble performance.
NOTE: This class is only open to students who have completed Level 4: The Scene.
This class runs for nine weeks; eight weeks of classes followed by a grad show in the ninth week.
Classes meet once a week for 2.5 hours.
