Intro to Game of the Scene with Shane Porter

Dive into Game of the Scene!

Spend a day getting to grips with a way to makes scenes that build a base reality, find something unusual, then frame, justify, and heighten it to make it pop.

Inspired by the style of the UCB Theatre, this workshop is ideal for people wanting to make sketch-like scenes with clear premises, using structure to help find the fun in each scene.

About the teacher

Shane has been part of the ITS community since 2016, doing as many classes and workshops as he can along the way. He was part of the first edition of ITS House teams with ‘Inside Scoop’, and currently coaches the musical improv troupe ‘Speakerbox’.

He has done every course at ITS, studied at Annoyance Theatre in Chicago, and done workshops with UCB, Worlds Greatest Improv School, and the Pack Theatre from LA. Shane loves to nerd out about improv, learn all that can be learnt about it, and pass useful tips on to students to help them feel empowered in their scenes.

Intro to Game of the Scene | 1 day workshop | Sun 12 Jul | 10–5:00pm (1hr break)

Suitable for improvisers who have completed Levels 4 or above (or with equivalent theatre elsewhere, at ITS’ discretion).

This workshop takes place at Improv Theatre Sydney, 44-54 Botany Road, Redfern

Please arrive 10 mins early and ready for the class to start at 10am.
