Don’t Do This Workshop Alone
THE WORKSHOP
Unlock the secrets of improvised horror! In this workshop you’ll learn techniques for creating genuinely scary made-up stories, along with how to create the right atmosphere for your audience, and how to keep each other safe when performing in this tricky genre.
The workshop builds towards a large ensemble show that everyone will be able to take part in (please bring plain black clothes for the show for maximum spookiness).
“I was genuinely terrified during this show and had a profoundly enjoyable time.”
— workshop participant (and professional scare actor)
THE TEACHER
Matt Powell has been performing, directing, and teaching improvisation for a quarter of a century and has a lot of unanswered questions. He is a current Artistic Co-Director of the New Zealand Improv Festival and a regular at festivals around Aotearoa and Australia. He loves pushing the boundaries of the kind of stories we tell on stage, as well as finding out what happens when people improvise together for the first time and what they can discover together.
