A Scene You’ve Never Seen Before

THE WORKSHOP

Even the best improvisers can find themselves replaying characters and situations that feel a bit repetitive. The familiar is safe, but it can start to feel a bit…boring

If we want to create unique scenes, we need to be more perceptive and observant to details that are often ignored. Changes in tone, body language, tension and proximity are all up for grabs when it comes to exploring the gifts available to us in improvisation

This class will challenge improvisers to be more in tune with their instincts and assumptions, and see every new offer as a toy to be played with.

THE TEACHER

Laura Buskes is a Naarm /Melbourne based improviser, actor and comedian. She works at The Improv Conspiracy as the Assistant Artistic Director, and has been teaching and performing there for over 10 years.

Laura has been acting since she was 5 (if you count backyard dance recitals to unwilling relatives), and has always felt at home on the stage. In her adult life she’s performed across Australia in countless stage shows, and spent some time in the US studying improv and sketch comedy.

Despite dropping out of more than 7 different university degrees (with an unconscionable HECs debt), improv has remained her longest relationship and career.
