Giggle Reels: Sketch Comedy | Autumn Holiday Workshops 2025

All of our school holiday workshops are designed to help students get confident with skills explored in the classroom as part of the NSW Drama syllabus for stages 3-5 and HSC. See how our workshops link to the syllabus here.

Calling all young budding comedy writers and performers! Enter the world of weird characters, wild premises, ingenious twists and the silliest of bits, as you learn the ropes of writing and performing sketch comedy. You’ll learn how to write, perform, film & edit your own sketch comedy videos for YouTube, TikTok and beyond! Some of the finest comedians of the last century have cut their teeth on sketches, and now it’s your turn.  Leave the audience of friends and family in stitches in a special sketch show screening on the final day. An excellent way to get ahead with your playbuilding and writing skills, and have an advantage on your HSC Group Devising project!

Please note: For this workshop, you will need a device that can record and edit (e.g. smartphone, tablet).

Dates:

14th, 15th, 16th & 17th April (4 days)

Time:

Drop-off time: 9:15am | Pick-up time: 1:30pm. The workshops will run 9:30am – 1:30pm, with a short break. 

Ages: 

Year 7-12

Screening on final day

There will be a screening of the sketches created in the week for family & friends on Thursday 17th April at 12pm. Participants will also have access to the videos after the showcase.

Where:

Improv Theatre Sydney, 45-55 Botany Rd, Redfern (There is 1 hour street parking available on Botany Rd for pick-up and drop off.)

Cost: $550 per person

What to bring

• Lunch and some healthy snacks (no nuts!)
• A water bottle

• An open mind and willingness to give things a go!

 There is street parking in the streets surrounding the venue.
