Good editing protects and supports better scene work. Crisp editing is how we create a pace that helps keep the audience engaged. We talk about comedy in terms of timing and beats; editing is how we keep the beat. Editing is the drums. So, let’s talk about obstacles to good editing and why some edits are better for specific moments and purposes. Let’s learn new kinds of edits and maybe invent some too.

About the teacher

Rich Sohn is a Chicago forged improvisor and teacher. A veteran performer, director and teacher with The Annoyance, Second City, and iO in Chicago, he recently moved to LA. Now teaching and directing at The Pack Theater where he also performed in the long running, much loved show Dingleberries. Other favorite shows in LA include: Thirdsday All-Star Celebrity Improv, Peeches and HCG Show. Favorite videos and podcasts include Strangest Things, Conner O’Malley’s Jay Walking, Hitchhikers & Appetizers, and Those Who Aunt. Rich has directed his super talented wife in two of her excellent solo shows so far.

This workshop is suitable for improvisors who have completed Level 3 or above (or equivalent).

This workshop takes place at Improv Theatre Sydney, 44-54 Botany Road, Redfern

Please arrive 10 mins early and ready for the class to start at 2pm.
