Embracing Our Voices – Workshop
Looking to push your improv skills to the next level with fellow people of colour (POC)? Come along to this four week workshop aimed at creating a safe space to improve confidence and performance skills for people of colour, culminating in an optional show on the 12th of April at 7pm!
In each jam we will work towards building an ensemble, making an audience feel that they’re in trusted hands, initiating scenes with confidence and clarity, and then putting it all together for our show! We’ll also work together to find ways to bring our respective cultures (and accents!) into our performances.

Is this workshop right for me?
These workshops are designed exclusively for culturally and racially marginalised people (CARM) – ie. those who cannot be racialised as white – including Black, Brown, Asian, or any other non-white group, who face marginalisation due to their race.
These workshops are intended to create a safe space for those who have ever felt ‘othered’ in the predominantly white spaces that are often the default for performance spaces in Australia. If this is not you, check out the other jams offered at ITS. If you’re unsure if you fit this criteria, please email info@improvtheatresydney.com to discuss.
These workshops are ideal for participants with some improv experience, ideally at least level 3 at ITS, though not essential. Any other non-ITS improv experience is also welcomed. If the sound of trying improv for the first time, or improving your foundational skills with an all POC group is what makes you feel comfortable enough to do so then please come along!
