But what if a couples counsellor was genuinely trying to help you, while their partner fed them the most chaotic words imaginable to weave into their advice?

Chantal and Greg’s Couples Counselling is a one-night interactive comedy show built around a deliciously simple premise. Audience couples volunteer to be counselled on stage. One performer plays the sincere, warm, deeply committed therapist. The other derails them; using chaos words collected from the audience as they arrived. The counsellor has no idea what’s coming. Neither does anyone else. Un-partnered? That’s okay… submit your worst, and sit back enjoy the fun!

What makes it work is the tension underneath the laughs: the counsellor is always genuinely trying to help, which makes the collapse all the funnier. Every show is unrepeatable, shaped by the room on the night.

Chantal Harrison is an actor, writer, and the founder of Northern Beaches Youth Theatre, where years of directing young performers have pulled her back to the stage herself. Gregory Thorsby is an actor, writer, comedian and multi-instrumentalist. They met at Manly Theatre Group, bonded over a shared love of improv, and have been making music and mischief together ever since.
