Advanced TV Comedy Writing: The Writers Room
This course is for students who want to take their TV comedy writing skills to the next level. Set up like a real TV writers room, each week students will bring in their work to be read. The ensuing writers room discussion will offer constructive feedback and suggestions on how to develop the ideas further. You will be the head writer for your own TV show, so you are always in control of your idea.
This course is aimed at students who have some experience with writing and/or performing. It will focus on character development, story structure, and writing strong comedic scenes. TV writing is a highly collaborative medium, so in addition to sharing your own work, you will also get involved in offering ideas for fellow students’ projects.
Whether you’re working on a script, series bible, character ideas or episode outlines, the writers room is the perfect setting to share your work in a supportive, creative environment.
