Introducing… ITS Rant Academy! Starting this Thu Introducing… ITS Rant Academy! Starting this Thursday, this free weekly online event features a rotating cast of ITS faculty and internationally renowned improvisers letting loose about their unpopular opinions and pet peeves. At the end of the rants, you’ll get the chance to take part in a Q&A sesh with the panel to tease out their opinions and form your own. Our speakers this week (July 29th) are: Anna Renzenbrink: “Bonnet Better Work - Stop Ruining Historical Genre” Cale Bain: “Stop Asking Your Teacher For Specific Feedback” Jeeves Verma: “Nobody Cares How You Hold A Telephone” Moderated by Bridie Connell 7.30pm Thursday. The saying goes, all good things must come to an e The saying goes, all good things must come to an end. And so it is with our beloved Artistic Director, Carlo Ritchie. For nearly three years Carlo has done an absolutely tremendous job leading ITS through getting our first ever theatre and class space, collaborating with corporate and schools clients, coordinating shows, birthday festivals, and supported thousands of students. Most recently he’s been getting our development application, construction certificate and liquor license sorted so we can officially renovate and open our theatre. His mammoth efforts have been astounding. Not to mention he’s one of the funniest improvisers in the country. We had a lot of laughs, a lot of great times. Carlo will finish up his tenure as AD in September but will of course be staying on as a company director and founder of Improv Theatre Sydney. We wish him the warmest congratulations as he starts his next chapter in Canberra, welcoming his new baby with his partner, Alice. We love you, buddy 💚 This of course means that ITS is looking for a new Artistic Director and General Manager! Well friends, looks like we’ll have to wait and Well friends, looks like we’ll have to wait and see! The current plan is still to have term 3 start on July 31st depending on how to lockdown goes, but in the likely event we’ll have to push it back again we will be sure to let everyone know ASAP. New dates for grad shows and all other shows are pending; we don’t want to keep updating the times only to have them change again. Keep an eye on our socials (and make sure to check your junk email folder) to stay up to date with classes, shows, jams, house teams and everything else. We appreciate your patience and lovely well wishes. Hopefully we’ll have a little more certainty soon 😷
It’s not all doom and gloom, friends! Term 3 is It’s not all doom and gloom, friends! Term 3 is on sale (starting July 31st) including online sketch writing, so you’ve got something fun to do if you’re staying in. Plus, we’ve got a couple of special guest workshops at the end of July/start of August. All in person classes are capped to aid social distancing, we have plenty of masks available, plus hand sanitiser in all classrooms. Please make sure you’re signing in with our QR codes each time you come to ITS and be sensible when you’re out and about. Hopefully we’ll see you in a few weeks! 😷
